Each research agency has its own strategy and advisory about infrastructures:

• CNRS (all disciplines)
• INSERM (Biology and human health)
• INRIA (Computer science and automatics)
• IFREMER (Oceanography)
• CEA (Physics and biology)
• CNES (Space studies)

All these research agencies depend on the Ministry of Research (even if some of them are also affiliated to other ministries). The Ministry of research created a dedicated structure of coordination between the research agencies concerned with large scale infrastructures (9 members from the ministry of research). The strategic committee prepares the decisions to be taken by the minister or by the government. This committee relies itself on different expert groups for in-depth study of the various topics. The Ministry has established a "groupe de travail sur les Très Grandes Infrastructures de Recherche (TGIR) en Sciences du Vivant" (working group for very large facilities in Life Sciences).

Life Watch is one element of the new research infrastructures considered by the groupe de travail sur les Très Grandes Infrastructures de Recherche (TGIR) en Sciences du Vivant.

The newly created "Fondation de Coopération Scientifique pour la Biodiversité will most probably be requested to take in charge the networking activity regarding LifeWatch at national level. The MNHN is the operator for LifeWatch international cooperation, at least in the start.
