ENVRIplus is a Horizon2020 project bringing Environmental & Earth System Research Infrastructures, projects & networks together with technical specialist partners to create a more coherent, interdisciplinary and interoperable cluster of Environmental Research Infrastructures across Europe.

The ECOPOTENTIAL project focuses its activities and pilot actions on a targeted set of internationally recognised protected areas (PA) in Europe, European Territories and beyond, including mountain, arid and semi-arid, and coastal and marine ecosystems. Building on the knowledge gained in individual PAs, ECOPOTENTIAL addresses cross-scale ecological interactions and landscape-ecosystem dynamics at regional to continental scales, using geostatistical methods and the emerging novel approaches in Macrosystems Ecology.

MEDCIS project is a follow-up of the previous two calls from DG Environment that dealt with Joint Monitoring proposals and assistance on the Member States to develop Action Plans for Integrated Monitoring Programmes, Programmes of Measures and Data Management, under the obligations of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD).

The key objectives of this project are: 1) to facilitate and provide the methodological standards for the next phase of MSFD, towards coordinated approaches between MSs, by reviewing, comparing, selecting and adapting appropriate existing methodologies; 2) to focus on Mediterranean regional/subregional cooperation and standardisation, taking in consideration its specificities and therefore recommend suitable approaches for this region.

The project "Improving governance, management and sustainability of rural and coastal protected areas and contributing to the implementation of the Natura 2000 provisions in IT and GR" with the acronym "BIG" is implemented in the framework of the cross-border European Territorial Cooperation Programme INTERREG IV "Greece-Italy 2007-2013".

The mission of the GLOBIS-B project is to foster the global cooperation of biodiversity research infrastructures and biodiversity scientists to advance the implementation and calculation of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs). The project aims to identify the required primary data, analysis tools, methodologies, and legal and technical bottlenecks to develop an agenda for research and infrastructure development to compute EBVs.

The main aim of IRIS-SES is tο develop a new concept and decision-making tools for integrated environmental monitoring for the MSFD to support management of human activities and their effects in EU marine waters, based on existing sampling across various disciplines (physical, chemical, biological, etc) and scope the potential for joint programs (within and between Member States).

BIOforIU is an Italian PON project dedicated to the construction of the related infrastructure BIOforIU, an infrastructure designed to study living organisms and the mechanisms that underlie the functioning of biodiversity.

The main objective of this project is to support the development of regional action plans and best practices for integrated monitoring programmes, coordinated programmes of measures and the filing of data gaps for Mediterranean marine waters and thereby improve implementation in the next steps of the MSFD, in particular in relation to the review of the initial assessment, the GES definition and the environmental target setting in 2018, including (financial) planning as well as the related integration of data management.

The RESEARCH GAME project aims at developing a new teaching approach and pedagogical strategy for learning a methodology useful in all the subjects of scientific research, and also to promote and apply creative and innovative thinking. The Project has created an Internet-based educational game to develop an understanding of research work and to teach best practices.

The EU-funded CREATIVE-B (Coordination of research e-infrastructures activities toward an international virtual environment for biodiversity) initiative was established to bridge the gaps between national life sciences research infrastructures.
