This hands-on course is specifically designed for marine biologists to teach them how to make their data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). By adhering to FAIR principles, marine biologists can ensure that their data is easy to discover and use, extending its popularity and longevity far beyond their expectations. The course spans three days and covers the core concepts of FAIR data, helping participants understand what it entails and how to achieve it. Through a combination of lectures and interactive sessions, marine biologists will learn how to make their diverse data types FAIR.
The course is open to both on-site and remote participants. Days 1 and 2 will feature a blend of lectures and practical exercises designed for on-site and online attendees. On the third day, an exclusive “Data FAIRness clinic” will be held for on-site participants, allowing them to apply FAIR principles to their datasets. All course materials will be available online, providing open access for future trainers to reference in their contexts.
This course is ideal for marine biologists, PhD students, aspiring data managers, and laboratory technicians, anyone experienced in data collection and management. Participants will learn to make their research data FAIR, maximizing its impact on the scientific community.
