Ecologists produce and have access to an incredible amount of data from diverse sources. An equally diverse set of models is used to understand how humans affect biodiversity across scales. Rarely are old outputs validated again once new information becomes available, which results in a limited ability to anticipate ecological change.
The LifeWatch ERIC Modelling and Workflows Thematic Service Working Group aims to turn models into open, automated, interoperable and scalable workflows for ecological predictions.
The workshop on 21-22 May is the first step towards this direction: this event will gather together a community of computer analysts, statisticians, ecologists, economists, social scientists, and resource managers – borrowing from the methods and strengths of different fields to create integrated outputs.
