Official launch of the European Open Science Cloud

The official launch of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) took place last 23 November 2018 in Vienna. The realisation of the EOSC is an integral part of the broader Digital Single Market strategy that was announced in 2015. LifeWatch ERIC as a relevant collaborator and service provider via the EOSC-hub marketplace, was present in the dedicated session of the event for introducing the EOSC portal.

Biodiversity Data Journal accepted into Science Citation Index Expanded

We are glad to inform you that the Biodiversity Data Journal, an international peer-review Journal, focusing on
open data, ontologies, data standards and protocols, and which publishes many of the LifeWatchGreece articles, has been accepted for indexing in Scopus, after successfully completing a rigorous evaluation process.

Currently, the journal is to be indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and listed in the respective Journal Citation Reports with a Journal Impact Factor and related metrics.

We congratulate the editorial team for this achievement marking an important milestone for the entire scientific community.

Call for study cases in LW-ITA VREs and MoBiLab

LifeWatch Italy calls for proposals to develop study cases in/at:

1) the Phyto VRE and Alien Species VRE – LifeWatch Italy invites the interested researchers to submit projects proposals involving the re-use and/or the customization of resources produced by LW-ITA or by other initiatives (including infrastructures and projects), their integration with resources available to the project proponents, and the implementation of new e-services required to address the specific project questions – please download the full call

2) the distributed Laboratory of “Molecular Biodiversity” – LifeWatch Italy invites the interested researchers to submit projects proposals involving the production of molecular data through “Next Generation sequencing” technologies (e.g. sequencing of amplicons, genomes, metagenomes, transcriptomes and meta-transcriptomes) and their bioinformatic analysis – please download the full call.

3rd ERIC FORUM

The 3rd ERIC Forum and ERIC Committee meetings will be held at Escuela de Organización Industrial – EOI premises in Seville (Spain).

A shuttle transfer service from/to Seville Centre is planned for the starting and ending of daily sessions.

According to your Hotel location you can choose which bus stop will be more convenient for you. As all of you are hosted in the city centre, 3 pick-up locations have been selected at maximum 15 minutes walk the city centre.

Please note that the pick up time changes according to the start time of the meetings. It will be as follows:

Tuesday, 27 November
    08:50 Pick up at Hotel Meliá Sevilla
    09:05 Pick up at Teatro Maestranza
    09:20 Pick up at Hotel NH Plaza de Armas
    09:50 Arrival at E.O.I premises
    At the end of the meeting the bus will take all attendees to the city center for the guided tour to the Gardens of the Royal Palace (which will be followed by the Social Dinner)

Wednesday, 28 November and Thursday, 29 November

    At the end of the meeting the buses will leave from the EOI and drop of the attendees at the same stops as in the morning.
