The lead story in this first edition of 2020 is a 'Save the date' for the LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecology e-Science Conference, to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 27-29 May. This annual gathering of the scientific community aims to be even more inclusive this year, to appeal to Research Infrastructures, projects and international initatives. Program details and registrations available soon on the minisite.
The news from Slovenia is that an ERDF grant will allow LifeWatch SI to purchase new equipment and set up a national data centre, while in Portugal, a new observation and distribution dataset is now available on vertebrates in North and West Africa. Reports on international conferences make up the other principal stories: Eurolag9 in Venice, 20-24 January, the Maritime Industry Workshop in Ostend on 23 January, ENVRIweek in Dresden, 3-7 February, and Transfiere in Málaga,12-13 February.
Forthcoming attractions include the latest Assemble Plus call for research proposals by 24 April, the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, 3-8 May, and Empowering Biodiversity Research II in Tervuren, 14-15 May.
